Time for an update.
Trailer has been spray painted and received a coat of Klir (Future)that makes him look much darker.
Next stap wil be adding decals, a canvas tilt on top, weathering and drybrushing.

The Humvee also received a coat of Klir and received some decals and he wil be weatered and drybrushed together with the trailer.

Nice work on the little trailer.... Most people would just "slap-together" a trailer from th ekit and not worry about the details that make the thing realistic.
Great work.

Tx John.

Been absend for a while but I'm back.
First a couple of pictures of the Humvee with trailer, freshly painted and a coat of Klir (Future).

After weathering, drybrushing, coat of matt varnish, couple layers of dust and some detailing regarding the truck, a couple of pictures about how he will be finished more or less.
I used "Clear Lenses 4mm" from Belgian company Resicast to replace the headlights. I will of course need to matt them down because my vehicle is operating in the desert.
Started to recreate the desert on a picture frame using real Qatar sand.

See you later.

Erwin,

What a stunner considering where it started from!  EXCELLENT work.
The dustiness really accents everything.  Curious though.... how did you get the dustiness on the windscreen?? Applied a mask and then airbrushed on what....??

Tx for the comments.

@ John: Indeed i applied a mask cut out of some Impega self adhesive memo note sheet.
Just sprayed gently all over it, just to show the vehicle has been operating in desert environment.
A camo net has to be added over the windshield intending to break up the reflection of the sun in the windshield so I guess there won't be much seen of it but still, it's there and i think it should be represented.

Will show it when it's finished.

Today, August 1st 2010 is the end date for the Humvee diorama.
Unfortunately, my camera went on a working trip to Spain where it has to shoot pictures  of sunny beaches, dolfins, family and friends.
For this reason, and to give you all a little preview, these pictures taken a week ago just before the camera went on holiday.

Please note that certain parts still need a coat of matt varnish and that the vehicle still needs to be fixed on its base, that some dust still needs to be added as well as the camo netting and the antennas.
This has been done but no pictures available.

Catch you all later.

Well you have fun on those sunny beaches, and with those dolfins, family and friends. Now about you work, to take some used model and use the smallest amount of AF and self made detailed parts.
An come up with this masterpeace, it's simply "magnificent"!! Cheesy  I hope to try your method out some day. An have the most fun on your family trip.... Wink

Last update regarding the Humvee and its trailer.
I consider the dio as finished and people will have to digest it as is when shown on events.
As a reminder: when rebuilding and presenting the Humvee I had from the start the intention to rebuild it as a vehicle found in a picture in a book referring to what we now call the first Gulf War. Units from the USA and Europe had been urgently trensferred to the Gulf where they had to face the troops of Saddam Hoesein.
I choose a picture of a Humvee and its trailer; knowing I could rebuild the Humvee. I first started with an ordinary trailer but eventually found the suited type and got on with that one.
The model is presented on a base with real sand from Quatar and I guess there is not so much difference between it.
The background picture clearly shows a sand storm coming up on both vehicles that have not been repainted yet.

I hope you all like it. The antennae have the correct lenght regarding those on the picture. The light blue bolls at the top are clearly shown on colour pictures of other vehicles operating in that area.

Enjoy.
